Where is Taimen Lodge?
Taimen Lodge is in the Tsagaan Nuur area of Khövsgöl Province, northern Mongolia. We’ll share transfer details when you book.
Which fish can I catch?
Our rivers are home to taimen, lenok and grayling. Your guide will help you explore the water and choose the right approach.
When can I visit?
Our 2027 seasons are 15 June–15 October for Lodge-Based Fishing, 15 July–15 September for Headwater Expedition, and 15 July–30 August for Rafting. See our Rates page for availability enquiries.
What fishing gear should I bring?
Bring your rods, reels, tackle, waders and fishing clothing. We’ll help you prepare a suitable packing list before your trip.
Is fishing catch-and-release?
Yes. All fishing is catch-and-release to help protect these wild fisheries.
Will I have an English-speaking guide?
Yes. Our English-speaking fishing guides know the local rivers, with one guide for every two anglers.
Where will I stay?
At the lodge, you’ll stay in log cabins or traditional Mongolian gers, with sauna and shower facilities. Headwater and Rafting trips also include riverside tent camping, with sleeping bags, mattresses and camping gear provided.
How do I book?
Email info@taimenlodge.com or message us on WhatsApp at +976 8888 3520 with your preferred trip and dates. A 50% deposit secures your reservation; the balance is due at least 120 days before departure.
Is internet available?
Starlink internet and power banks for phones and cameras are provided on Headwater and Rafting expeditions. Ask us about connectivity for your chosen trip before travelling.
Do I need insurance?
Yes. Travel and medical insurance are required. Your policy should include emergency evacuation cover for travel in remote areas.
